Empowering Rural Women: Sharita's Journey to Financial Literacy
Sharita, a 33-year-old housewife and mother of four, faces the challenge of managing her family's finances on an irregular income. To learn and secure her family's future, she joined a financial literacy campaign organized by United Gospel Mission in rural Himachal Pradesh.
In a financially illiterate community, Sharita grapples with the risk of falling victim to banking fraud and financial scams. Her husband's irregular income as a carpenter adds to the financial strain, making it crucial for her to gain financial knowledge.
United Gospel Mission's financial literacy campaign provides Sharita and 500 other rural women with essential knowledge about banking, insurance, and savings schemes. Through storytelling, skits, and inspirational videos, they learn to make informed financial decisions and safeguard their hard-earned income.
Despite being a primary school graduate, Sharita is determined to enhance her financial literacy skills. With the campaign's support, she learns basic math for budgeting household expenses and her children's education. She also discovers savings and investment opportunities for her daughter's future.
